Karen Stein has studied photography for many years.  A few of her teachers have been Ruth Bernhard, Ansel Adams, Michael Ivanitsky, Steve Kiser, Norm Starrat, Don Cameron, Barbara Brundredge and Marion Patterson.  Printing fine art silver gelatin prints is Karen's specialty and she has exhibited in art shows and galleries and been in several publications.  She is now working with digital printing and producing giclees from her unique images.  She also has been a freelance photographer, had her own greeting card company, taught children's photography classes, done fashion and portrait work, as well as being an accomplished musician and artist.

Some of her favorite photographers are Paul Strand, Imogen Cunningham, Ansel Adams, Ruth Bernhard, Henri Atget, Manuel Bravo, Edward Weston, Paul Caponigro, David Muench and Elliot Porter.  She also enjoys Dianne Arbus.  Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, and Amedeo Modigliani have provided inspiration for her as well.

Ceramics and silk screening also have been her forte.  Karen posesses a B.A. and an M.A. from Queens College of the City of New York and the University of San Francisco, respectively.  She has also lived abroad, traveled and exhibited internationally.
